This year’s celebration of the United Nations’ International Music Day is unique. In addition to an outpouring of song from global artists everywhere, there’s a brand-new National Sounds 24-hour Music Livestream being planned. It will be hosted at Yasgur Road Campground, located on the site of Max Yasgur’s farm, in upstate New York.

Here’s the backstory: In 1969, Max Yasgur, a dairy farmer from New York, stepped forward to host the Woodstock Music & Art Fair. His kind act saved one epic show. Woodstock’s creative team had just been outed from its previously-scheduled location. To overcome such a setback seemed impossible. Thankfully, Max Yasgur’s friendly disposition allowed the giant music event to take place on his farm. His open-armed policy changed the future of music festivals and entertainment. And his frank gesture of support landed his farm—where half a million people enjoyed four calendar days of great music back in 1969—a treasured place in American history!
